The hope is that policy makers will continue to make education more accessible to all Americans. Education should be at the top of the list for anyone who is in a position to affect it. Initiative like The Tennessee Promise, The American College Promise, Georgia’s HOPE Grant Program, Move On When Ready, The Go Higher Grant, Choose Ohio First Scholarship, are what’s needed to create a strong and educated nation. These programs help higher education institution fulfill their purpose. Higher education institutions are here to educate the American people, and they can do that with the help of policies that increases the American people’s access to these institutions.
Fresh ideas and funds should go to higher education. Obama stated in a speech at Macomb Community College that “[t]ime and again, when we placed our bet for the future on education, we have prospered as a result -- by tapping the incredible innovative and generative potential of a skilled American workforce”(Obama, 5). Higher education fulfills many purposes for society. When the American people recognizes its purpose and invest into its success, history has shown that the nation benefits from it. The hope is that the American people will continue to see the value of higher education.
